Preparing the perfect CV
Your cv is your first impression to a potential employer. It is your marketing document in which you are marketing yourself. For this reason you must ensure that you sell your skills, qualifications, accomplishments and abilities to the person reading your cv. Below is a guide to preparing a cv.:
Personal details - Ensure that all your personal details are included on this page. Name, Address, contact details, identity number etc. always ensure that the contact details are up to date.

Education -  This page must list all qualifications. Where applicable include qualification type, subjects passed, Institution obtained and year obtained.

Work experience - this is the most vital part of any cv. This is the details of previous positions and experience you have gained. Ensue that you give details of the functions you performed. Make sure to relate your experience to the position you are applying for. Use action words such as planned, developed and organized. This part of your cv will assist the employer in judging how suitable you are for the position and whether you can fit into the position with little to no training.

Interests and Achievements -  Keep this section short, to the point and relevant. This often does not interest employers because most of our interest are out of our workplace therefore employers place very little weight on this section. If however you have interests that relate to the job be sure to mention them.

Skills- if you have any skills that may set you apart from other candidates make sure to mention them here. Skills such as been able to speak other languages are sure to set you apart.

References: This is also a critical part of your cv. Ensure that the details of your referees are up to date. Take the time out to contact previous employers before sending out your cv to ensure that the individual you have put down as a referee is still employed at that company.

Length of CV: try and keep your cv to two pages. CV’s longer than two pages are often passed over as they appear to be time consuming. If you have a range of qualifications list them and inform the reader that they are available on request.
